From East Africa, and back again.
The story of Mulugeta (Mike) — and the journey that ultimately
brought Grapevine back home.
Born in East Africa
Mike Abran's story begins in East Africa — roots that remained with him even after leaving for the United States at an early age.
Computer Science at Northeastern
A full scholarship to study computer science at Northeastern University provided the technical foundation for everything that followed.
From PC repair to technology support
It started small: one founder repairing computers in people's homes and offices. Before long, that work grew into technology support for local businesses.
Technology support becomes marketing
Those businesses needed more than working technology — they needed customers. What began as technical support evolved into marketing, and eventually into the digital marketing and software company Grapevine is today.
A team across the world
Today, Grapevine brings together a team of more than a dozen people across America, Africa, and Asia, serving businesses throughout the United States and beyond. What began as one child's dream has grown into a company that supports clients, partners, employees, and their families around the world.
The dream comes home
Grapevine is a dream born of an African seed. After decades of growing abroad, that dream has come home. Our first African office is now planted in Kigali — so the fruits of our aspiration can support, inspire, and create opportunity for the people and communities through whom that dream is being realized.
